The store got a face-lift this year and we added a few new items for your convenience. We also created the PLC cookbook. Sonny was the editor who pulled it together and the recipes are those favourite ones that I am constantly being asked for. We are looking at doing a second edition this year with all your favourite recipes that you make while you are here. If you have one and would like to share it, please send me a copy and we may include it in the next edition. A picture would also be appreciated. You can email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kelli and Dennis wedding at PLC – October 4, 2014
Kelli and Dennis chose Promised Land Camp to host their wedding. With much planning and several trips to PLC over the year, they created a spectacular event. They were wed in front of cottage #7 at 4:30 in the afternoon with all their friends and family around them. Cocktails were served on the beach even though it was a little chilly, the rain did hold off for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Excellent planning saw a huge tent and a couple of port-a -potties placed in front of cottages #1 and #2. The caterers served a gourmet meal and the DJ had us dancing until 1 AM. Consideration for the guests was at the fore front, so Kelli and Dennis rented buses to transport everyone back to their hotel at the end of the evening.
A congratulations from Linda & Henning: Henning and I wish you a life time of health and happiness.
New in 2014
Bell Canada has removed the pay phone at Promised Land Camp due to the low usage. The cellular reception has strengthened over the last year, so more people are using their cell phones. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our clients.
This year we renovated cottage #6 with a new kitchen, windows, pine ceiling and wainscoting, a new water trampoline was added as we had to say goodbye to the turtle, bathroom update in cottage #4, repaired drainage along the driveway, added flat screened TV’s in cottages 1, 2, 3 and 4, the store received a face-lift and we added new items, we created the PLC cookbook, we tore down the old deck and added a new deck on cottage #7, and we expanded the gardens.
What to expect in 2015
We plan on renovating Cottage #8 with a new kitchen, new windows, pine ceiling and wainscoting, we will be updating the fish cleaning hut, adding more yoga retreat weekends, and rrepairing the retaining wall by the gazebo.
Family Fishing and Fun - July and August
There are so many things to keep everyone busy during the summer, even when the weather is not so great. Seeing friends from last year is the bonus worth waiting for!
Other PLC News
There was an abundance of frogs this year and to Linda’s delight not so many snakes! Campfire at the Point Marshmallows and bannock are always a hit. Henning moved the deer feeder back up behind the fish cleaning hut and therefore we had many deer visit us throughout the season.
Provincial Archery Tournament
The qualifying Provincial Archery Tournament was held here at Promised Land Camp in September. We had over 120 archers here including an Olympic contender and our local superstar.
